” Patriotism—much like freedom, love, pride, courage and sacrifice—is an abstract idea and concept. When ideas are abstract the definitions and parameters can sometimes be blurry. The definition of being patriotic means loving, respecting and supporting your country. Being patriotic can become blurry when it is taken for granted and only thought of at times like the Fourth of July. It should never be taken for granted because it is unifying and comforting. It has energy that is unifying and advantageous for protecting our country and our children. The irony is that it is easier to take for granted in times of peace and prosperity.
